Promise ultra 100 ata66 pci mass storage controller driver

Driver Name: rtc. Driver Name: setver. Driver Name: dblbuff. Driver Name: ifshlp. VXD : [A0] File not found. A few things On my XPS T system I have the Promise 66 card install in the second slot and have left the first slot empty for increased air circulation for the graphics card. Secondly, have you checked the cable from the hard drive to the controller card to insure it isn't faulty or that it is the correct one?

Also check to see that the cable is installed the right way. If the ribbon cable is reverse it will only run in PIO mode. Thirdly, if the only thing on your motherboard controller is the CD drive then move it over to the first IDE port. There is no reason to have it on the secondary IDE port as the machine will boot from a device attached to the controller card first as long as "add-in" appears before the CD drive in the boot order.

Regarding the connector cables - well I just took the connection at the "Ultra 66 Controller Card End" and after putting in the new Ultra 66 Controller Card, I put the cable back at the same slot in the new card. I never touched the cable end connected to the Hardisk as accessing it is a bit difficult.

Regarding correct type of connector cable - I guess since I never totally took out the cables out of the PC, they are the same as when they came from Dell a few years back and seem to be working.

In my system, the first PCI slot is free Currently I have the Ultra 66 in the last slot. I can put it back in the 3rd slot as it was before Accessing first PCI slot is again a bit difficult. Anyway I followed the steps on phone In the end I was told by the rep. So here I am back again. Like I said you really don't have to put it in the first slot, just have the card lead the pack by being the first one in line. Try moving all the cards down a slot until slot 1 and 2 are free.

Then install the Promise card in slot 2 and leave slot 1 free. Then checked again all the connections and connector cables. It did and asked for the driver for Ultar Drivers are installed Then uninstalled the original driver The only way around that is to take whatever card you've got in PCI 2 and put it elsewhere.

Im not sure that's it, as I dont have anything in that slot, but the last time I did, thats what the result was. You will be able to leave a comment after signing in. Hardware Search In.
