It does not look for a code pressing TV then power tries 1 code then pressing TV then power again tries the next code etc… until eventually the TV turns off or all the codes are tried thus can take quite some time to complete.
I am afraid the TV never turned off. It is really annoying that you buy a mainstream TV like a Hitachi and there is no code that will work with the Sky remote. Unless anybody knows the actual code for this paticular model I guess I am stuck with 2 different remote controls!
I'm afraid if you've been through all the codes and none works, there's simply no code on the chip inside your Sky remote suitable for your tv. If it's a real annoyance, you may want to invest in a multi purpose remote like a Harmony which can control multiple devices. Hi -I had this problem and it has been a real challange.
I even got a Sound Bar as this was my workaround but it was a pain. I ordered Sky mulitroom or what ever its called now and they send out Mini's.
The Minis now come with new remote controls and these remotes use Bluetooth to sync up and automatically put the code in for you and number 6 is the one that works. I put a video on here if it helps anyone. I dont know if anyone can translate the 6th number though as this did the trick.
